Nova Enrichment Academy successfully hosts its 4th Annual STEM Expo
Nova Enrichment partners with LCWAG to bring more STEM experiences to girls

May 8, 2018 – Loudoun County, VA – On Sunday, May 6, 2018, the Nova Enrichment Academy (NEA) partnered with Loudoun Commission on Women and Girls (LCWAG) to host an estimated 600 guests at Nova Enrichment’s 4th Annual STEM Expo.

Every year, NEA hosts a STEM Expo in Loudoun County, free to the public, that showcases the latest in the STEM/STEAM world. This year NEA partnered with LCWAG to bring hands-on STEAM activities developed by Nova Enrichment Academy, Hillsboro Charter Academy’s STEAM club for girls, Loudoun Academy of Science (AOS), Loudoun Academy of Engineering and Technology (AET). Numerous local businesses provided donations to LCWAG in support of the event, including Blackfinn Ameripub, the Zone, Tom Dolan Swim School, Barnes & Noble, Sow Cole Creations, Wegmans, and American Girl.

Featured speakers included Phyllis J. Randall, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Barbara Canfield, the Director of Natural and Applied Sciences at Northern Virginia Community College, Cathy Hall, Northern Virginia Community College’s High School Outreach Coordinator, and student panels from both AOS and AET, discussing topics relating to STEM education and opportunity.

“The Expo is our annual event where we showcase new STEM/STEAM activities from around the world and invite scientists and engineers from NASA and other organizations to engage students. This was our 4th year conducing the free Expo and we were very excited to partner with LCWAG. Being a woman and an engineer myself, I believe that girls have an even more important role to play. Significant new research is shedding light on how women engineers and entrepreneurs have a higher chance of success in their chosen fields due the unique way they analyze problems.” said Ekta Singhal, President of Nova Enrichment Academy and co-chair of STEM/STEAM sub-committee of LCWAG.
